Kodiak 450 acceleration problems
#1
Just wondering if anyone is having problems with Kodiak 450 cutting out at high revs and backfiring. I have had mine in shop 3 times for same problem. Everytime I ride it has this problem. It always starts fine and runs at low rpms but at a certain point, say midpoint throttle, it starts sputtering and backfiring and has no high end throttle. ALso the reverse light starts to blink if I am in park and reving the engine. First time in, dealer said the blinking reverse light meant it had a bad speed sensor. They replaced it. Next ride, same problem. Next time in shop, said vent tube was blocked and was vapor locking. Rode fine for a while and then same thing. I dumped the gas out and put fresh gas in and it ran fine. Last weekend in WV, ran fine on first day, same problem on second day. No one seems to know what the problem is, but it is consistent and happens everytime I ride. May run fine one day, but act up next. I love the machine when it is running OK, but it is a big pain when it is not. I get scared to climb hills thinking it will cut out and not have the power I need when I need it. Anyone else having this problem?

I wonder if you have a wire loose that is connected to the rev limiter,,,,
I had a wolverine prior to my Kodiak, riding through the woods one day started backfiring would not rev up,, the wire for the rear brake(parking) was screwing up...sometimes people completly over look this item,, just a thought....

This may sound stupid, but replace your sparkplug, check the wire -- terminal connection in the cap, and check the connection where it goes into the coil, just might be an easy fix, it was on my GS1150ES that had a similar cutting out problem.
