Whats the chances that Yamaha will replace the Warrior with somthing good, like the WR400 dirtbike engine with reverse and electric start, and a new frame, somthing like the new YFZ frame but still have the all aroundness of the Warrior? The closest thing right now is the Z400. The YFZ450 and TRX450R are race bikes. Just a thought

I think the smartest thing yamaha could do would be to pretty much redesign the frame, a new engine, a different look and just keep the name- Lets face it the technology on some of the warriors parts is way out of date, a 2 valve head cant compete with the new DOHC's with 4 or more valves... Also the frame as far as handling goes should be reworked and lightend to at least bring it up to the 400ex's class....... Other than that the warrior has been a great quad its just time yamaha either discontinues it or gives it some upgrades....... But i still forget the warrior has been one of the all time best selling quads all around-----

i would kinda have to agree/ and dissagree, yes the warrior needs to be updated but.. y chance sumting that is already a winner compared the 300ex to warrior, warrior will win. need to come out w/ a new quad w/ a 400cc motor and new frame but not call it a warrior. htere is really only one warrior out there thats the 350cc 2 valve 4stroke that was made in 1987! but i woudl like to see a 400cc trail quad

Maybe in a drag race, but in the woods, the 300ex's handling will be more useful than a more powerful engine, On the mx track, the 300ex is a little better than the warrior from personnal experience.

you are right, i do feel the 300ex would be better on a track stock for stock, becuase of the weight, but my friend has a 300ex and i can kill hiim in the trails his has pipe, filter, jet, some modds my warrior does and i can beat him on trail and on track just ecuase i can ride better, but the 300ex is lighter, the only thing i could see the warrior gettin a new/rebuilt frame but leave the bumper hook ups nad nerf hook ups the same and put on a 4 valve head!!

4 valves would be nice on a warrior, id also like to see them on a 300ex .I like the warrior, i just prefer the 300ex, and man it can rip some killer wheelies, on the 300, i can do a "high chair", plain old wheelie, grabbar wheelie,2 person wheelie, stoppie, stoppie with a friend on the front, and i can reach up and grab the front bumper on it when im standing on the grabbar riding a wheelie. I feel more comfortable riding a 300 than a warrior, but i guess its just me, and BTW, im definatly not saying the warrior cant wheelie .

warriors will stay right behind a banshee when hill climbing, i know they can climb good, my friend had one and he could run up these extrmely steep hills, i was impressed. The 300ex isnt good at hillclimbing since the front end is so light, its almost scary going up some hills that the banshee runs up with ease. But if you want a real good hillclimber, the banshee will almost climb walls! Some hills i climb, i dont have the slightest idea how it made it up w/o coming grab bar, those hills are about 4 feet high with a 90+ degree lip.

In typical 30 - 40 mph trails a warrior is as good as any quad made....

The Warrior is an awsome hill climber. I'v climbed some hills that took a few minutes just to get some nuts before I even atempted, but once I did it was no problem. Although it also helps to be in the right gear, I went up this hill one time, it was at least 100 ft long and dam near 70 degree angle, I got a rolling start into 4th gear and made it 7/8 ths of the way and just would not go no more, scarey let me tell you when your stuck up there, the second time I made it when I stayed in 3rd gear. The bike was all stock at that point too, mabe two weeks old.
