I am trying to tighten the universal joint shaft on my tie rod end to my steering spindle, but when I try to tighten the universal joint shaft to the spindle, it just keeps spinning. I am too afraid to pound on top of my universal joint with something heavy, but there must be an already known technique to get the taper shaft into the spindle and tighten it to torque. Any help would be appreciated.

 

I use a c-clamp, kinda clamped offset so you can get to the nut, its not alot of force but enough to hold it and get the taper to do the rest once its a little tighter.

 

Thanks for the response. It seems that the C-clamp will do the trick, and I will try it once I get my new universals.
