I dont understand this wide spread conception that a warrior is so much bigger than a 300ex. at his size, that deff. shouldnt be the diciding factor. hes not a HUGE guy. my dad's bout that size + a few pounds, and never complains bout ridin my blaster around. If u can fit on a warrior u can fit on a 300ex. I have had LOTS of seat time on both including tight trails, wide open, jumping, mx, and i wouldnt dream of pickin the warrior over the 300 unless u find a highly modded one at a good price. The 300ex is just the funner all around quad. as for top speed, who needs it. even if yr a drag racer top speed shouldnt matter in this case cause who uses a warrior or 300ex to drag???.

But the 400ex isnt much better than the warrior, just more up to date with the frame/geometry and a few other simple things.
I agree with u on most points HondaRacer but here i thought i would just say that the 400ex frame showed up bout the same time the warriors did, since it basically came right off the 250r, but yea i understand wht yr sayin, its just not "more up to date" but better designed

Maybe lighten it up a bit, and give it a upgrade in suspention. This would make it a awsome awsome trail riding machine. I know if my warrior had a little more go, and a little more suspension, without comprimising the indestructable aura the warrior has achieved it might be the #1 selling quad for more years to come. Just my opinion.
Yamaha did update the suspension and shed some pounds on the Warrior. Then they put some new platics on and called it a Raptor 350. Instead of doing that, I think they should have put more into the Warrior motor. It's been around a long time and is reliable as they get, so I'm sure there's improvments that could be done without hindering that quality. Multi-valve design, freer flowing intake and exhaust manifolds, tho the Warrior exhaust manifold and header are very good for a 350 cc ..

But Blasterrider, if your brother wants to get into racing, I'd seriously consider the 300ex. The Warrior has more grunt, but it is considerably heavier and doesn't handle as well, and for racing .. you have got to have good handling.

Just ride them both and deside what you feel is right for you both are great and have their ups and downs but you cant go wrong with either. I own a warrior for a while now and has not let me down but i have seen 300EX and they are good quads as well.

I also agree with warrior68man. The warrior bashing thing is getting old and fast if you never riden one or know of its history then think about what you are going to post be fore you do it.

Go with the warrior! The reverse on the 300 really will make him change his mind. Right now I can murder a 400EX with a WB pipe, 406cc overbore, all round web cam, and a rev box (with 150LB rider). Right now I'm at 130lbs, so that might be an issue. If your buddy may gain any more weight in the near future, he might consider a z400, that might fit his weight a little better. He might have to do some heavy mods to move quick if he gains any more weight.

choosing a quad on whether or not it has reverse is one thing, but baseing your decision on how the quad is put into reverse??? thats rediculous. i've heard of alot of 300ex owners bending out the reverse lever so its easily accessible by there boot, in this case it would be EASIER than the warriors. but definintaly dont base your decision on the reverse procedure.

out of those 2 he should get the Warrior but he should really be looking at getting a more Powerful bike. Hes gonna buy this and then want to get a different one because it feels weak and slow. Hes a pretty big guy and he will soon want a different one or start wanted to spend alot on that

I would def prefer the warrior over any of the others and YES i have rode pretty much every other quad on the market... the Kaw Mojave will keep up with if not GO PAST a warrior those thins are pretty damn fast and pretty good on the trails too... reverse is easiest to use on those... it's 1 gear below first 300ex was to complicated and it took me 15 mins to learn it and forget it in 5secs warrior i feel is a VERY simple reverse thing but would be nice to have it mounted in the plastic liek the Raptor and Z400 300ex is an ok quad i didn't feel like it had the power that the others out there did... 400ex being same way and with lake of reverse and light front end it aint ideal for trails but hte 05(06?) 400ex (450r wannabes) will have it AND AN LED BRAKE LIGHT!!! OMG 5 years over development for that the warrior i find as being a VERY good trail quad just behind the raptor( even tho it's a lil top heavy but the power makes up for that) i beleive that if Yamaha made the warrior motor a 4valve and liquid cooled it it woulda been THE BEST quad for many MORE years on the Sport ATV Market.. ok enough said and does the tire design differ that much detween the warrior and 300ex??? o yea and pick warrior... AND sorry but i have no Comma key so nad please dotn bsha ought da misellins

Course thats the reply yr gonna get in the yamaha forum. Im a yamaha fan myself but whenever these topics come up i gotta stand behind the 300. The only thing i see that the warrior has goin for it is reverse procedure and top speed. both of which basically mean nothing. As long as it has reverse who cares how u get into it...its deffinintaly not goin to take u 15mins everytime u wanna back up. and as for top speed, i dunno bout yr riding styles but to me it means nothin...as long as its got 3rd gear im happy. the 300 is more comfortable, better suspened, lighter (not by much but it is) handles way better with a much lighter feel, and wheelies like no other. Go with the 300ex it will out "fun" the warrior any day.

I shoulda mentioned that yea the 300ex does wheelie much better BUT if u can ride a wheelie, u can ride a wheelie on anything. my friend rode one for a mile the other day on his warrior so yea it CAN wheelie. but the 300ex will be much easier to pull up and keep in the air.
