warrior os 300ex
I think the Warrior handling thing is overrated in some senses.
Yes on an MX track compared to a 300ex or 400ex the Warrior feels like a tank. It plows into high speed corners a lot harder and requires more rider effort to get it around as quickly as a 400ex. Jumping and hard hits, there is no comparison, the 400ex and 300ex are both superior to the Warrior.
But in the woods, tight trails, technical rocky sections, the Warrior is more than competative after a few mods (tires, bars, pipe, jets) with anything in it's class and than some. It's got a narrow wheel-base and snappy light steering. And the engine has plenty enough pull all through the powerband for even a 300 pound rider.
It all depends on where you ride and what you like. Both quads will fit a variety of different styles. The Warrior is considered a sport quad, but it some ways it's almost in another class. It's almost like a "Sport Cruiser" and the 400ex is more "Sport Racer". The Warrior is almost a bit of a Sport/Utiliy in some senses. I know a lot of guys, myself included who have a trailer hitch on their Warrior and are not shy about hooking a small trailer or a mower deck on the back for a quick tow accross the yard on the way out to the trails.
The Warrior is simply not an MX race machine and that's that! It can be used for tight hare-scramble races as I and others have done. It can be used in cross-country races as long as you don't plan on winning, in other words you are there for the fun of it on the weekend in the novice class.
The 300ex will do all those things too, but no matter what people say they are not as powerful and are a bit smaller. This matters more in direct connection to the size of the rider and his/her comfort level on each quad. If a person gets on a 300ex and doens't feel like it's underpowerd than it's not. Some riders can get more speed out of different powerbands depending on style and weight and other things along those lines.
What swayed me towards the Warrior over the other two was simple. I wanted reverse, the 400ex didn't have it. I was also on a budget, the 400ex's cost a lot more on the used market. The 300ex felt too small for me, and didn't feel as fast. But the speed wasn't as much as an issue as was the feel. It just felt too small, felt like I was too far over the bars or something and really couldn't stand up and ride at all.
The Warrior felt good. It sits low, you are deep in the saddle as they say but not too deep for me. It fits my freakish alien body perfectly. In other words it's all relative.

Very well put ss97. different ppl have different levels of comfort and riding styles. as for me i would rather have a bike that feels smaller and puts me in more control like the blaster and the 300. i dont have a problem modding my machines to fit my needs. different people just have different needs and different comfort zones. but to me the 300ex is superior in all aspects except top speed.
