RoostKing,
Removing the gold anodize was one of the first things I did to my Banshee.
Use Easy Off oven cleaner to help disolve the anodized coating. Figure on about 1 can per wheel. You'll still need an abrasive to completely remove it. I used the red Scotch Brite pad to get it all off, then the grey (very fine) Scotch Brite pad. Once you have it fairly slick, get some Mothers Polish or Eagle 1 equivalent and use 00 (super fine) steel wool. After that, you can just polish them up with a soft rag and the Mothers Polish.
Here's a pic of my wheels after I removed the gold color, but you'll have to excuse those old tires! http://www.vci.net/~bash/redhuba.jpg
PS... I've since put new Holeshot XCTs all the way around as well as a Moto-Fast 2-into-1 pipe. Do you think that I can get more than $3,000 out of it? It has about 20 hours on the engine since a complete bore (.020 over) and rebuild job at the local Yamaha shop. I've also put the Toomey idle kit on the carbs and removed the TORS.
