warriors carb

I just got done rebuilding the top end and put a stock hi-compression wiesco piston in it. Now it wont start unless i prime it by dumping gas down the spark plug hole. It will run for a few minutes b4 i eventually end up killing it. It also has a K&N filter with a proflow intake. The quad sat for prolly 4 months with the carb just hanging there, do you think that i can just spray carb cleaner in the carb or do you think its the jets? Could it possibly be the new rebuild being stuburn???

Did you bump up your jet size at all? The higher compression will need a larger jetting, but I think it is more than that. Make sure your carb is clean and check your cam and make sure your timing is right.

Are you sure hi-comp requires bigger jetting? More air means more fuel, higher compression doesn't achieve more air, just a more compressed combustion. Check your timing; make sure the line on the sprocket lines up WITH THE CHAIN TENSIONER INSTALLED. The PO of my Warrior lined them up, then installed the tensioner; end result was it was off by one tooth and ran like ***.

I'm pretty sure you do. Well maybe not for lower compression like 10.25, but the higher ones you most likely will need to. I might be wrong, but I do know if you are running a piston that needs race fuel you must rejet higher or you will burn your piston.
