OK, the Big Gun CDI raises the Rev Limit on the Raptor by 1000 RPM and also advances the power curve for better overall performance. For the money, its a good CDI. The best, most versitile CDI out there is the Vortex CDI. It incorporates 10 power curves, so you select what RPM you want the power to come on at. Low RPM for trail riding, High RPM for drags, Linear for a boost in the entire RPM Range, or stock. Add the fact that there are several different rev limits for each curve and you have the last CDI that you will ever buy for your quad.
All the performance Rectifiers work by managing the battery charging system on your quad better than the factory rectifier. The result is that the stator no longer needs to constantly trickle charge your battery, which can cause exessive loss of power. By eliminating this uneeded trickle charge, horsepower is increased by 7%-9%!

Well anything is possible, but I would say that it should be OK. Personally, I've had a CDI for years that had no rev limit and I enjoyed it a lot. Most stock motors have a hard time reving to the valve float RPM. A lot of guys get the Autometer RPM tachometer that you can mount on the handle bar and keep an eye on it, just like the pros do.
However, thats why the Vortex CDI is such a popular concept, lots of different rev limits depending on your needs.
