It has a rev limiter for reverse and makes it so you can hardly give it any gas. It can be bypassed.

Look in raptortranny.com heres the link http://www.raptortranny.com/revlimiter1.php .
And they are really high geared I think that was about the olny gear size for engine size limits .
Takes some getting use to good luck

I Have a 04 Raptor LE and it has a really tall reverse gear- if you gas it too much or too little it will die. Kinda touchy. Revlimiter bypass is the key.

Ever since 02 the reverse gearing has been the same, too high. I bypassed the limiter and I love it. My cousin tried it and bypassed his on his raptor the next day. Makes a world of difference, but takes a little getting used to as well.

That was one good thing about the 01 raptor, no reverse rev limiter. Of course going about 35 in reverse out of the garage was kinda interesting. At least until I ended up under the deck.
