Default Anybody lengthen their stock swingarm?

I was asking because I don't really want to pay $700+ for an aftermarket one. I've considered the JTM, but they seem kind of long to me at 4.5''.

I had mine cut and lengthened +3. They did a beautiful job on the welding but it cracked. If ya plan on riding real hard I dont reccommend it.

I had my stock cut and added +4. I used it for hill climbing and it held up excelent... That is until the roll off Delbarton. LOL

If you find someone that knows what they are doing welding aluminum then it should hold up fine. Mine showed no cracks what so ever, and after the roll it did break it lose but it also ripped the aluminum where the weld held so good! So I would say if you find a good welder you shouldn't have any problmes... and the guy I had do mine charged like 150$

Just an FYI I went with a Tucker +6 for climbing after the roll.

My "to hard" was rolling about 450ft off a 500ft hill! LOL

That was to hard!

I had a friend add +2 to my stocker and came out wicked i even had it powder coated amd looked sweet. I sold the bike and the guy who bought it after a month broke it. Welding aluminum to take that kinda stress is very hard and from all the people it doesn't last. Buy one already built or maybe used on ebay. For all around play riding the +2 on a built motor was perfect the +4 is over kill for playing but a must for drag racing.

First off if you are going to stretch your swing arm make the cut diagonal from ( back / front ) the longer the angle the stronger the weld . Second it has to be very clean and then should be ecthed with acid . Third the inside of the weld should be purged with inert gas . Fourth the welder should be a square wave tig or a high end cobramatic hi/low . Fifth the swingarm should be preheated just before welding and kept hot during and after and cooled slowly .
Also matching aluminum is a must there are many grades of aluminum and some dont like stress . interior reinforcements can be added in some cases
It's that easy
