Strongest Tie-Rods.......
#1
I currently have Pro-Racer steel Tie-Rods from Alba and I am constantly bending them during desert races. Does anyone know of the strongest Tie-Rods available?? Any help would be appreciated...before I go MADD and shove the Pro-Racers up Alba's back side...........Thanx

No I don't have that answer. Are you hitting more holes/rocks than your competitors so as to bend them? or.... do the other competitors have the same problem? Tie Rods are supposed to be the "Weak link" IE: their designed to bend on moderate impacts or crashes instead of say a spindle or an a-arm bending. (2) things come to mind
1) Build your own, Get thicker tubing, cut it to length and tap it (make 2-3 sets "Spares).
2) Re-inforce the current ones by welding a piece of solid rod or angle iron parrallel on the current tie-rod (not pretty).

I use the Ricky Stator sets. I seem to hit EVERYTHING and have never had any problems. They are basically Honda Tie Rod ends machined to fit the Yamaha taper. The rods are heat treated stainless steel. Ricky Stator has a pretty good desert racing track record too and he's active so I trust his stuff in the dez!

The tusk seem very nicely priced - something to definately consider too...

Hey gentlemen...thanks for the repies. I knew if anyone had knowledge, it would be Ridley. I have a spare set of rods right now, but as soon as the websites up, I'd like to take a look at the titaniums. Keep me up to date on when the webs ready. At $125., thats about how much the Pro-Racers set me back. Thanx again for the info......
