i have an 01 raptor.i have installed an je high comprestion piston k&n jets and filter,gytr pipe and run a 12- 41 gear.i run the 12 for trail rideing.i put an 13 on when i can open it up.i cant get over 74 mph i am being out run by stock raptors and z400s.any help?

 

give me the rundown on needle postition,air fuel mix screw postion,

have you done a valve adjustment?

Have you checked the carbs?

And does it run OK besides losing to stock bikes..Everything sounds good and you got all you need to beat the hell out of those bikes..

Just a little tunning and that will change..

 

i dont have a clue? i had a local shop do all the work.sometimes it idles high and sometimes its low.the chock dont seem to work eather.i had a new head put on and new valves.i know they have not been checked.i had the piston installed when i had to replace the head.now it leaks oil every where too.

 

Oil Leak is most likely the Head Gasket from what it sounds like...make sure it still has oil..valves dont seem like they are adjusted either...

 

Do not run that motor until it is fixed.

 

about how much would it cost to have the valves adjusted and new gaskets.

 

I think they'll ding you for about $90 for the valve adjustment. Got mine done today and will let you know what they charged me tomorrow.
