Lets all gather around the camp fire and...

I crash in a box trailer, blow up the air mattresses, unroll the sleeping bags and get out of the wind. I bought that trailer last February after a trip to Gordons Well when the wind blew my new tent to pieces and thankfully someone let us sleep in their trailer. I sure like getting out of the wind, rain, and it cuts down on the late night engine rev noise. One of the best parts of the dunes besides night rides is a huge biker fire and the cool crisp taste of da Budweiser beer along with as much b.s. as you can dole out and take.

I bought a 21' toyhauler for 16K and me and the wife love it. I look at it this way:
I'll loose what I put down and part off the intrest (it's tax deductable) so the actual cost isn't really that much. At least that's what I keep telling myself.
I also heard that there's a company that makes a modual unit that slips in to a utility trailer that has all the nessessaties built in. I'd go that route if it were just me.

sixsixt- I try to use that reasoning that you mentioned in your thread. It does not work around my house. Cause every 2 weeks in need something else according to the mrs. I about flipped out when SHE suggested that i go buy the second raptor while i was in glamis last year.
Actually she has been telling me for 2 years to buy a motorhome. I just can't see puting 70k or more into one at this time. Enclosed trailer will be fine for me and the boy and the few times that she will roll with us.

I have a motorhome and a 20' covered trailer. I have a pic in my page. We use the motorhome all the time and when it's time for the desert I hook up the trailer and we are off. Just like this weekend.

14, What we do and I think you can do in Tejas is we pull a 5th wheel camper, and hook our 4 wheeler trailer on to that. Pull doubles. This opens up your options on campers--you can find used 5th wheels very reasonable as opposed to toyhaulers which are spendy. And you don't have to deal with gas smell in your sleeping quarters, or re-packing everything to fit the quads in to leave, etc.
In CA, WA and OR you can't pull doubles (commies!) but I think all the other western states you can. The 2nd trailer tracks quite well, and the only thing is you can't back up all hooked up. Our 5th wheel is 22' and a 12' trailer with the wheelers. You can go up to about 74' total in most states. I can go 75 mph with all this stuff, handling is not an issue.

When I go with my Dad we lay down a mattress and sleeping bags in the back of his van. If it is cold we let it idle all night with the heater cranked. If my dad doesn't go, I stay in a tent or my cousin's enclosed trailer. (not sure how big, and I believe they use a space heater)

Cowboys used to sleep in the desert with a bed roll and a horse saddle for a pillow, you guys need to toughen up a little:-)
