This opens up your options on campers--you can find used 5th wheels very reasonable as opposed to toyhaulers which are spendy. And you don't have to deal with gas smell in your sleeping quarters, or re-packing everything to fit the quads in to leave, etc.
In CA, WA and OR you can't pull doubles (commies!) but I think all the other western states you can. The 2nd trailer tracks quite well, and the only thing is you can't back up all hooked up. Our 5th wheel is 22' and a 12' trailer with the wheelers. You can go up to about 74' total in most states. I can go 75 mph with all this stuff, handling is not an issue.

UBETRUN.....if hes dead, I don't think he'll wake up anything. (just ribbing )
We bring the inflatable matress, and the electric heater and sleep in the 6x12 enclosed.
Also UBETRUN, I have some cousins that sleep out in the conditions as well. One makes a hamuk(sp?), between two trees with a rope over top for a tarp"tent", and the other just sleeps on the ground in a zero degree bad. They're pretty hard core though.....they even do this in the early part of winter.

Whats wrong with riding hard and sleeping like a baby. I have to get in bed and adjust my air to my side of the bed so it feels right. I've done all the other kinds of camping you can think of and now I don't have to. I think the cowboys would of stayed in a motorhome if they had one.

Besides, when you the wee ones with you it makes everything much more complex.

I truck camp (air matress in back of my full-size blazer, I call it my mini-RV) but there is usually at least one RV or toy hauler in the mix. The RV and haulers are GREAT to have when the wind picks up !!! Otherwise, they sit empty all weekend ! Lots of times it's the only way to get the wives to go - that's why I truck camp

I have a 11' camper, which is fine for the missus and I. Its older, no ac, bathroom, but its out of the wind and noise. I am giving it away, if you want it come get it. I am going to buy either a newer camper w/ ac and bathroom and ELECTRIC JACKS, or a small toy hauler. I have a boat in mind this summer, so maybe the camper, I am not into Shady's shady doubles set up. Just kidding Shady, I just am not getting a fifth wheel, so two tag trailers is scary. What do you mean you cant back it up?
We used to have a tent that fit perfectly on the trailer, with an air mattress it was great, besides the late night pit racers.

Two tags is ugly. Our 22' non-slide out 5th wheel is kinda small with the kids, but we throw them out in a tent mostly now anyway which they like. Just having a bed, a/c, bathroom & shower is the key whatever the size. Nice to feel like a human being on day 2 or 3.
One of the other bennies of this setup is that I can ride back into camp, hook everything up, and be on the road in about 20 minutes. Kam I'll have you back it up for me at the dunes while I work on a Shady ale and provide running commentary.

22' Fifth wheel, hmmmm that might be the ticket. Are sure you don't need to upgrade to 35' and sell me yours?
I can't back it up either, well correct that, I can't back it up in 15 or less tries. I used to be able to do it with the semi doubles, but its been a while. I would rather not. You could probably brew and ferment in the time it woudl take me to back it up........

i dont have any sort of trailer, tent etc.... but the two friends i always ride with bought a 20' old school camper and removed the bathroom, stove, heater. all they left in it is the table up front (which is also a bed, and the benches on the sides(which also makes a bed! there is a bed up top so room for three! then after paying 150.00 and doing all the mods to her they cut a door in the back of her and made a fold down ramp like the toyhaulers with reinforced diamondplate so we can hall the wheelers! not bad for a 150.00 bucks! th only thing is there shees keep getting longer(extending frames and longer swingarms) so we are barely able to get all three wheelers in!
