Ive been running a drop in k&n with the lid cut so it just holds the filter in place. But last week the filter poped out and it let in A LOT of dust into my carbs. So now I really need your setup, but are the paper k&n filters good for dust? I do some riding in silt, almost like baby powder and I notice that my filter is REALLY dirty and was wodering if foam would be better and if you can get some foam filters for your setup.

yes we run the foam filters on the set up and i use foam on mine for the sand and have not had anything pass thru to the carbs..you should check you carbs and give a good cleaning if dirt got inside..
we also have used the k&N but with the outer wears on them for extra protection,as ling as you dont rid near mud this set up should be fine...

I like sand, but I love riding in the desert where its mostly dirt and some silt, besides I was the only one in my group with paddles until I sold them cuz no one would ride with me So if I could get a setup with no airbox Im gonna need some good protection, thats why I asked about foam. I already cleaned out the carbs and fired her up and its running again! If this setup with foam filters and outerwares will be good, then I want one. So please let me know!
PS
I found out that carb cleaner isnt good for carb diagphrams, deforms the rubber..weird

Tom Burba of Pro Design strongly recommended that I run foam in dusty conditions. He said K&N's were best for sand only. I ended up getting sixsixT's setup with foam UNI's and water repellant outerwears. Should be a good setup if I ever quit plowing snow long enough to get the time to install it and rejet.

Foam will work fine. If you go to the dunes I would not oil the foam prefilter or use an outerwear and oil the prefilter lightly and oil it lightly for desert riding.
LOL don't you freinds like sand in their face.
You have to be careful with carb cleaner on rubber and plastic parts, the same for brake clean.

IMO the K&Ns will work fine IF oiled properly.

I was cleaning one of my fishing reels and used a little brake clean. I sprated a little on the plastic drag **** and when I picked it up a few minutes later it just fell apart in my hand.
