How is your pricing?
I paid $6000 OTD & they moved 4 of them in the couple days they had them (sold their last one as I was loading mine up). Before that I had been waiting on another dealer who wasn't able to fill my order because of a backlist.
I found that with all the crap that's been posted and the BS in the mags - the 450R ended up performing well beyond my expectations.

Personally, I'm waiting for the '05 YFZ for a couple of reasons. First is that I have an '01 Raptor, and that is enough said. Secondly, Yamaha has stated that the YFZ450 will be on a yearly product development cycle, so I am hoping that the '05 gets some refinement from lessons learned (not expecting too much here) such as a true 450cc, better stock shock valving, more reliability, etc. Third, and finally, I have too many friends that own the '04 YFZs to quit my stand and buy one... lol...
seriously, though, those sale numbers are impressive. I will be willing to bet that Yamaha sells more YFZs than any other sport quad this year, except for maybe the Raptor. Truth be told, for the last couple of years the Raptor has been the largest selling ATV PERIOD. That includes sport and utility machines (but not derivations of each).
Pretty impressive, and Yamaha is making money hand over fist on the new models - why do you think they finally replaced the Warrior and updated the Blaster.
My money is on a new Banshee for '05. Now now, we've heard it all before, I know. But they don't have any more machines to update, and the Raptor 350 was a late release '04.
KNOWSALOT, any opinion on this????

With the new standard of emmisions going into effect in 2006, I see 3 possibilities here regarding the Banshee......
1. Yamaha sees that the end is near for 2 strokes and jumps off the bandwagon of the Banshee all together after 2005
2. Yamaha decides to go out with a bang and update the Shee for it's last 2 years.
3. Yamaha updates the Banshee and says to hell with the EPA........Let's desiginate it a "closed course only" quad!!!
I have no idea of what they will do.........but #3 sounds pretty good to me

Thanks for the clarification -- from what I understand, the 400EX engine is also imported from Japan.
Do you have any insight in to the late model parts pricing?
New models have extremely inexpensive parts pricing, the 450R and it's engine also included.
The 400EX, for instance, follows this with the exception of the engine - which seems to follow an older (read that "more expensive") pricing structure.
Some items on the 400EX have had their pricing cut by as much as 70% over the years, like the hubs.
Another pricing oddity is that the 39mm FCR Yamaha uses retails at almost $900 from Yamaha. The 40mm FCR used on the CRF retails for under $300 from Honda.

I am not sure about the 400EX. Haven't ever checked into it. I know that some the engine parts have part numbers designating it as being Japanese in origin, but I have also seen some with a US designation.
Maybe they get some of the engine parts from Jap and assembled the engine over here??
All of the Recon,Rancher,Foreman,Rubion, and Rincon engines are built this way..........
Ya got me thinking now. Going into overload.
Talk to yall tomorrow.
