Check out these numbers......YFZ450
Just got the 4th batch of YFZ450s in today. Interesting how many Yamaha has built already in a short period of time.
Got 4 more in today.........VIN#15,568-15,571
Compare this to the TRX450R that came last week.........VIN#1,312
Now I know that these aren't the numbers of units that have been sold, but based on the production figure that I KNOW that has been built, that is a staggering number.
And who's to say that these numbers are the lowest of the last import?!?!?
The same also applies to the Honda because I know they are trying to get out as many as possible. It's also possible that the 450R we have is on the low side of the first batch.
Just sharing.

LOL
The 1999 Honda 400EX was the biggest production run of any sportquad to date. It went nearly into the 30,000 range.
The 2001 Raptor had the second highest with numbers in the upper 20,000s itself.
All I'm saying is that the YFZ is at a high number right now for being the type of performance quad that it is.........and that Honda could have possibly had alot of those numbers had they got off their ***** in time
THAT was the point of the topic. Not that Honda wouldn't sell as many as the Yamaha.

The real question is this - will Yamaha sales increase or decrease with the release of the R?
How many peope were waiting to see both before they made their purchase?
How many are disappointed with the Honda and will go ahead and get the Yamaha? increasing Yamaha sales...
How many are excited about the Honda and will now buy it? slowing Yamaha sales..
How many of us think that I shouldn't have mentioned it because it will be a flame fest?
OK that might include me. Don't answer flamers. LOL.

thomez,
That's the question we at the shop have been pondering since we got our 450R early last week.
For the last 4 months, all these guys come in and look at the YFZs and ask about the 450R......it was an everyday occurance.
Alot of guys said they wanted the Honda but nobody would ever put a deposit down on one.
Now that we have an R, all these guys seem dazed and confused.LOL
Fact is, since we got the 450R in, we haven't sold it!! I would bet that over 100 different people asked seriously about buying one when it was first announced. I know that the sales department had over 50 who left their phone numbers for them to call when it came in!!
We have only sold 2 of the Yamaha's since putting the 450R on the floor and both of those guys were already commited to the Yamaha.
Maybe all of these guys fall into the "undecided" category like most on this forum.LOL
