Does anybody have a ported blaster

Does anybody in here have a ported blaster. Im thinking about getting mine ported. I can get it done for $150 and i know this guy does good work because he has fixed my blaster a bunch of times and his son came in 7th at the end of the 250b flattrack series. IM just wondering if it really makes a lot of difference. Anybody in southern louisiana know of another place thatdoes good port work.

aaron i dont know who told you it doesnt give u any gains or u can simply do it with a dremel tool and not know wut ur doing but thats wrong. there are many companys out there who do porting and get substantial gains from the motors.

actually i wasn't telling him that it doesn't do nothing, it's just what i've been told.
A guy that races motorcross told me that he had 2 bikes, one he had ported polished and all that stuff, and a stock one. He had a dyno done on it and it only showed about a half of a horsepower difference. And he paid over 350 to get it done.
And I talked to another guy in the blaster class said he has a ported one and a stock one and they don't show any difference.
But then it could just be poor porting or whatever. I just don't think i'll ever be spending my money to do it

I had a 98 blaster that was ported, polished,dg pipe,dg type 2 silencer. That thing flat out hauled!!!!It would pick the front tires off the ground everytime I shifted even into 6th,I raced my neighbors stock 2000 blaster and I smoked him!!!!by like 7-8 bike lenghts.I traded it for a warrior worst thing I ever did.

Whoever told you it will make a 1/2 HP difference must have used that dremel tool and steady hand to do their own job. There is no comparison between a stock and ported Blaster. The ported one will easily run away from a stocker. Check out www.macdizzy.com He is an experienced engine porter. He claims that 35HP is possible with the correct port job for the Blaster. Not bad considering stock is ~18HP.

When buying a porting job, your buying a porters skills. Pay for a local guy with a dremel tool, and you are going to get what you pay for. Porting is not just attacking the cylinder with a dremel tool. The porter needs a working knowledge on how to port. A flow bench, mapping out the cylinder and doing hundreds of computer simulations to get the porting job perfect. He also needs the skill with the dermel tool to get the job done.
I had the Duncan Racing mid range porting and head work done to my Blaster. It's ported for VP-Red race gas. I have a FMF pipe and silencer, and run a stock carb. Let me tell you, porting makes a world of a difference.
I was out cruising along once, doing about 45. A guy on a stock Warrior pulls up next to me and gives this quick nod and pull up ahead of me. I speed up and catch up to him. I looked at him, trying to figured out if he was telling me that he had a cop on his tail or what. He crouches down for less wind resistance, and I realise he is drag racing me. And he is at WOT now.
So I crouch down and pin the throttle. All he could do was watch as I pulled away. I waited for him at the next turn. I got the normal "What quad is that?" question. I get that a lot. Seems people don't believe the "Blaster" on the gas tank.
