I need to build a new trailer, The old one is to small. I am thinking of using dual torsion axles. Anyone have any pro's or con's with torsion axles? Trailer will be 6x12 bed with the front kicked out to 8' wide. The rear will be my camping gear box set up like a chuck wagon. The weight should balance well.

I have dual torsion axles on my 2002 Trail Boss 24ft enclosed trailer. I havn't found any disadvantages to them. The advantage's are load stability and ride. Big bumps in the road that used to make my 2001 leaf-sprung Carson trailer bounce around, my Trail Boss just soaks up.

When I go out to south dakota, that is a 900 mile ride one way for me.. At 75 miles an hour, that trailer rocks and rolls all over with the road patches, Humps to a bridge, dips and bumps. I think the torsion axles will smooth them out. But I haven't had a trailer with them on.

I built a trailer that is 6' 9" by 12' with torsion axles, electric brakes on 15" tires, heavy ( I used 3x2 3/16" steel tubing ) but it pulls great, and the torsoin axles let it sit very low, very easy to load and unload quads, if I put them on sideways, I can get 3 on there. Tracks down the road great, and rutted up roads don't bounce it around like my old leaf spring trailer. You can really feel those electric brakes helping out when you have to stop fast, or going down a steep hill with a big load, wouldn't own a trailer without them now, of course, depending on your location, the law states what size trailers must have brakes, I know I pretty much had to install them anyway.
