Default Banshee carb question

All I have been hearing lately is that single carbs kill power and was wondering what all you banshee owners thought. What is going to give me better low end and better throttle response between the single 35 and dual 28's(or any other duals)? The main reason I switched to a single carb is because it seemed like it would be easier to jet just one carb, and not have to worry about syncing two. If it will give me more power/torque I would not mind switching back to duals, but would getting some 28's off ebay or having my stockers bored be a better idea? Thanks for any suggestions.

depending on riding habits i guess would tell you what size to get! i would suggest duel 28mm mikunis for trail riding etc..... they are good size but yet will still give you that low end grunt! i always ran 35.5 mikunis on my old shee! i loved them.... they still had the low end but also had a killer top end! i would definitely go back to the duel setup regardless..... but the size of the monsters depends on you!

I ride mx, so I need low-mid power. I have been seeing alot of mikuni flatslides on ebay, are they not a very good kind of carb or what?

Keihin's are more forgiving than mikunis and easier to jet for novice tuners.

How much porting is done to it? Are you planning on building a more powerful motor soon? I would go ahead and buy the 34PJ's and then you are setup if you ever build it more. They still give good lowend and great top end. If not 34's, I would go with 30's.

I just got my engine put back together from stage 3 port work, intake porting, new head and domes and the 35mm carb. It will be staying like that unless I decide to increase the timing. Top end does not matter where I ride, its all mx or trails.

My opinion is go with 28's if there syncd and jetted they will provide a snappy throttle.

I have not heard anything good about the single 35.What I have heard is guys running lean on one side and the piston burning up.I don't know why or how but I've read of three different incidents in the last year on different forums. Some theorys point to the carbs inability to feed 2 cylinders at higher rpms and lower compression on one cylinder messes up the airflow coming into the engine

It could be the operators own fault from bad jetting and not the carb, but since all the feedback I recieved was bad,I'd rather stay away from it.

Not to say some people probably have had zero problems with them, but they haven't been praising them either.

This is my opinion, but the only way I might run a single 35 is with a 2into1 pipe.At least you know that the scavenging effect is there, which helps each cylinder draw in the new aircharge. That way both cylinders work together with the pipe and the carb.

Wasn't we just talking about a single carb not feeding every cylinder the same in another thread?

i saw a dyno chart that said a single carb had more power through the powerband but the duals had more on top.
