Finally!!!!
I possibly have a new mechanic that might do the work up here of tearing down and re-assembly. Will save me a few $$, and actually lower the price to around $2400. I know it's a lot of cash into a motor, but it takes $$ to be fast.
Hell, if I wanted to chance it, it would only be around $1600. But I wanted to make sure and go the whole nine yards and replace the rod so that I'm not doubting my decision everytime I ride it. $1600 would be the total build, but that leaves the risk of the stock rod breaking and causing more damage then I'm willing to pay for. So this set up and engine is the complete package. It covers everything but the carb's, and it takes the worry out of losing your motor because of the stock rod. Ask RaptorOwner about having a stock rod and a 686/690. He'll tell you about the heart break of putting in the money and losing it because of the rod.

Its like my grand papy used to say "Anybody worth doing is worth doing right the first time cause ya might not get a second chance".

It's definetly worth doing right. Can you imagine the possible damage caused if the stock rod were to give? It could ruin the cylinder, the head, and possible pierce the tranny or side case. Doing it right out weighs the possible damage.
I was hesitate at first, but Bubba and RaptorOwner both had rod failures that cost a fortune to repair. So you add the $1600...and the possible damage it would take to fix it if the rod breaks....and your looking at a helluva alot more then $2200-$2500.
