Default Offset rims

How can you tell how much a rim is offset? I have been looking at some different ones from ITP and they say (3+2) for example. What do these numbers mean?

Lay a straight edge across the wheel. Measure from the center where you bolt it up out to the straight edge. That is how its done. For example, if you have front wheels that are 5" wide with 3/2 spacing, they have three inches spacing inside where it covers the brakes and 2 inches out. 4/1 spacing is 4" inside and 1" out (these wheels are VERY twitchy at high speed).
