Default UNI-Filter for my blaster, i have a few questions.

I just baught a UNI filter for my 03 blaster. they didnt have any of the filter-oil in stock tho. which brings me to my first question.......is it a bad idea to mount it DRY, without the filter-oil?? i didnt mount it yet. and i know it might add a little power to the quad, but im not expecting much. and do people usually have to change the jetting after a new filter is installed?? and one more... i ride in lots of dirt, mud, and DUST in the spring and summer so im guessing that the filter-oil is a really Good idea right??

if anybody has any tips, or input that has used these filters id appreciate it alot. thanks.

I would not mount a dry filter and ride it. The filter wont catch anything, particles will go right through into your engine. Get filter oil, oil it up.

You should defently check the jetting just in-case. It is better to be safe than sorry.

Cool, i took a short trip to another local dealer today, and baught some spray-on filter oil. its made by maxima, so id amagine it will work well. soon as i put the rims/tires back on and the weather warms up just a bit, im going to spray this filter down and mount it. now that the oil thing is solved, im still wandering about the jetting, some people say that i shouldnt have to change a thing at my altitude, but others say that i might have to?

Besure to oil the filter. You can ruin your engine otherwise. The uni is not a big preformance filter. I had one on my blaster and did not have to change the jetting.

Thanks for advice, im going to oil it well before i install. i wasnt looking for performance, i know the K&N performs a bit better, but thet dont protect as well in the conditions i ride. lol if you say how much dry dust that gets kicked up on these trails and roads, you would understand.

does anyone use those "air box Vents" ?? the ones i want are 1 inch wide, they are rubber so they plug right into a 1 inch drilled hole in the airbox lid. id say that $6.99 isnt bad for a pack of 6 vents. i dont want to completely remove the lid because of dust situations. but if i added vented holes in it, id get more air flow to the box! how about it??
