Default 100mm, 11:1, Stage 2

I need some help with my decision. I just purchased a Stage 2 hotcam (springs to follow) and was leaning toward the purchase of a 11:1 JE piston. I am currently planning on sticking with the 100mm bore with no additional porting etc. Does anyone have the combo mentioned in my message title? If so, how is it?

Should I stick with my original plan of 11:1, Stage 2, and stock bore or am I spinning my wheels? I mainly ride with buddies who have decent mods, but I consistently get beat at top speeds. I currently have a full CT Race Pipe setup along with K&N pro flow kit and jetting. Thanks in advance for your two cents.

that is the setup that I would recomend the most........but I would do some head porting.........
maybe not now.........but when you get that done....that is when you are going to notice the BIG difference..........I think the larger cam breathes better with the head ported.....

Can you just put in a 11:1 piston, the S2 cam + springs and, go or, do you need to hone out the cylinder (My Bike is only 8 mo. old and, hasn't been riden in 4 at least so it is not worn)? Also, if you open the motor to do this when you bolt it back together will your timing be off? How would this affect jetting. Would some one have a recommendation for this? I have the same mods as AppRaptor.

I'd like to try this before i go to a 686, for sure! I may add the porting though.

How hard would this be for just an average mechanic in experience (at best)?

Will I still be ok with reliability and will the difference be very noticeable over what I have (signature)? Also, will I notice a difference with the 100mm, 11:1, Stage 2 setup over the same setup but with the Stage 1 cam? I want the benefits of increased top end mainly, but also want an even increase throughout the powerband. I'm not a die hard racer (yet), but I would like to set the foundation for future mods and yet want to maintain a decent amount of reliability.

Capt you should ALLWAYS have the cylinder fitted to your piston.

How do you fit the cylinder to your piston? Who can i have do that? All of the "Stealers" around here are dopes and, we have ZERO performance shops!

Any Raptor guru's willing to help me nearby in N.E. Illinois (S.W. of Chicago)?

app it should run good. Most mods that increase power will effect reliability, there are no free rides.

What Bartlet said!

Why buy a 100mm High compression piston only to turn around and buy a 102mm High compression piston?

Boring the sleeve isn't that expensive and the larger piston shouldn't cost you much more either. The head gaskets available now are great too.

My only regret is I didn't do the stage 2 cams on my Wife's Raptor from the get go but, the stage 1 with the 11:1 piston and port work has plenty of power for her to climb the steepest dunes and it is reliable!

Upgrade your clutch springs too - may want to go with the GYTR Clutch Kit.

The engine is relatively easy to work on so, if you have torn into a 4-stroke before you shouldn't have too much trouble.
