Did my sons yoshi last month. I talked to the yoshi sales person and they sell the packing with and with out the steel wool. He said I shouldn't need the the steel wool packing just the regular. The rivets I had to remove was the ones that held the nome on the pipe. You can't get it back in with those sticking into the pipe. Then I just riveted it back on after I was done. Oh ya spray some liquid wrench or something like it on both ends so it will come loose easier. It's easy.

The tech said 200 hours or it might of been 500. Because I was floored when he said it. But my sons yoshi was getting louder so we did it and it needed it. Don't know how many hours it had on it, second owner. Mine I'm going to do it this off season. I figure I have about 150 hours at the most on mine.

Dfitz so you didnt take out the rivets that are towards the front of the canister? There are about 8 or so of them. You just took the rivets that hold the name on the pipe?

The whole core pulled out. I had to work it to get it out. This was not my raptor yoshi but my sons 400ex, maybe they are made different.

I haven't got around to repacking mine, and I really don't want to. I am pretty sure it needs it, though, because it was discolored on the inside to a bronzish color. I figure I have a around 200 hours on it.
