skid plates for wolverine!!!
I'm thinking about putting some skid plates on my wolverine. I noticed that maier sells some plastic skid plates. Anyone ever tried these?
I like the looks of the dg aluminum plates but not the cost. How much does a set of aluminum skid plates weigh? Do they bolt up with no drilling required?
thanks

one of the first things i did when i got my wolverine was put on a skid plate . it is to exposed on the bottom . i bought the plastic plates because i wanted to add as little weight as possible . they bolt on in a couple of minutes . i have hit some stuff pretty hard and they have held up for being plastic . i forget how much i paid for them though .

Definity get some skids, I had a small chunk out of the bottom of my motor and a bent frame tube befor ei got one on mine. The aluminum one should bolt up with no drilling (mine did but I'm not sure where it was bought from), I don't know about the plastic ones but I think I'll try some on my next quad.

Get the PRM heavy duty aluminum. I have the a-arm guards, belly pan, and swingarm plate they may cost a little more but well worth the money. First alum. belly pan I went cheep. The center frame rail got bent up against the bottom of the motor. I bent the bar back away scraped the skid plate and bought PRM. Never had the problem again.

I extremely highly reccomend the highlifter skidplate. I got the set with the dimondplate bash guard and oil filter guard and the full belly skidplate. Its competatively priced and I have beaten the hell out of mine. I mean really romped on it and I have never had a problem. I ran over a large rock once at like 25 and it put a dig in it but didnt do anything too serious. If you get the dimondplate it also gives you a mean and unique look. Dont forget to get the oxlite or some other type of CV boot/joint guards as well. The last thing you want to do is tear a CV boot or mess up one of the shafts. I never got a guard for the rear diferential and havent had a need to so far but thats up to you. www.highlifter.com
