i was just at the polaris web site and did a 700EFI to grizzly 660 comparison and it said that polaris had a diff lock and yamaha had a speed limited 4 wheel drive. whats the deal with that is that, is that true. Oh ya i was just wondering what the top speed of a grizzly would possible be. thanx

 

Locked, you can go 22mph unless you bypass it. I think I've had mine up to 66 on the speedo in regular 4wd. Thats about the only time I remember actually checking it while it was engaged though. This was bone stock. I would imagine that I could get about the same top speed out of it in 4wd as 2wd, but I've to the HMF on there and when it hits the rev limiter downhill, its going 69 and never gets to 70.

If you want to freak yourself out (and you are not from Canada), switch it over to metric and watch that speedometer climb.

I think that Polaris got things mixed up. I know the Grizzly has a Diff-lock and I thought that all Polaris 4wd was when the back tires break loose the front tires engage? The fastest I have ever got my friends Grizzly to was 72MPH on the speedo and that was slightly down hill on the road, it was also stock. Why would you need 4wd for anything over 25 or 30MPH anyways???

Gotta love the Grizzly 660. It's awesome.

 

The grizzly does have a speed limiter when in diff-lock and reverse. There are numerous kits available to override this with very little wiring. The 2004 models have the override installed from yamaha but only works in diff-lock not reverse. My grizzly will do about 70 mph as well.
