87 Warrior - whats it worth?
I am looking to buy my first quad so I have limited knowledge of how these things work. I found an 87 Warrior for that is selling for $1,000. Is this worth the money?
I'm going to look at it on Friday and was thinking of offering $700 but I have no idea what is good. If its an 87 I'm figuring its probably got some rust on it and probably is pretty beat up. I don't care how it looks just as long as it runs (The seller said that it runs good).
Here are some of the aftermarket parts:
DG exaust (I think this is what he said)
rear axle extention
Bored out + 30 (380cc instead of 350)
If anyone has any advice or knows what the going rate is for a used 87 Warrior I would really appreciate your help.
Also how long do these things last? How many more years should I expect this 17 yr old quad to run?
Thanks for all you help!!!

That 17 year old quad will still be running years from now if you take care of it.
Maintenance is the key. Change your oil regularly, clean the filters regularly, and keep up on the chain maintenance.
Bearings wear out on every bike, so don't let that bug you too much. Just make sure that if the rear bearings are out, that the axle or carrier are not shot. If they are, there are more than enough parts on E-Bay to get you up and running again, but that will be money out of yer pocket and time you are not on the seat with yer thumb against the throttle.
Ride it... take a buddy that knows a thing or two about quads.
If the bike sounds and runs good, a grand is not unreasonable. Machines as bulletproof as a warrior tend to hold their value, and trust me, it is hard to find another warrior for under the $1500 mark.
Good Luck

You can't get 30 extra cubic centimeters by boring 1 cylinder 30 thousandth of an inch....Its more like a 352 or 353. And you could probably find a newer quad for that, but if its your first quad then go with the Warrior. It'll keep you entertained for awhile....
