What would cause a Blaster to keep reving after you let off the throttle? It's not sticking wide open, more like a really fast idle. And it doesn't do it all the time. Is this a throttle cable problem or a carb problem? Thanks.

It is very possible that you have an air leak somewhere and the high idle is being caused by a leaning out condition. I would not ride it till you find the problem.

Also, have you messed with the throttle cable at all lately. Try letting it idle, turn your handle bars from side to side and see if that makes it idle up. If so the cable is to tight. If not than an air leak is probably the problem.

you may have to build or find a leak down tester to find the problem.

You may have an air leak.Examples : the carb boot could be rotted and cracked, the gasket on the carb boot that meets the motor could be bad. remove the seat and check your main idle setting on top of the carb. The little flat head screw. Also i have seen the carb cap strip and hold the throttle open a little. Try the simple things first.

check the part in carb. that the throttle cable is connected to. Make sure the throttle cable has give to turn the handle bars so when you turn you don't also open the throttle too. Also check your jets.(size).

The needle has little to do with low (idle) throttle jetting...the pilot and air screw effect this range. However, if this problem suddenly started occuring I would bet it was an air leak.
