Default Raptor Tranny Victim Needs Help

Either your dealer's techs don't know anything, or your dealer is trying to get the most he can out of you for labor.......if anyone mentions second gear slipping/going out on an '01 Rappy, the first thing we would look at is the tranny. It's pretty much a given.....one ride around the parking lot would rule out the clutch being the problem. I can't believe they are giving you the runaround like that.....

And the '02 upgrade is the same as an '04 upgrade - same parts/same materials since 2002.....only the 2001's are different.

Hope you get your Rappy back and it is working perfectly - sucks that you had to be without it for this long. I wouldn't accept anything less than perfect from them.....if you feel even the tiniest slippage after you get it back, take it back to them. Alot of times the forks don't even look bent unless you put them next to a new one and look at it closely....and sometimes they don't replace the shift drum, which will also have wear on it that you can't see unless you check it well. I would have them tell you exactly which parts they replaced with new ones.......hold them accountable as much as you can.

Let us know how it turns out!

I have not spoken Labor charges or anything like that yet, Letting them fix the quad right... Then will speak about money, still trying to get it covered by the Y.E.S. Plan, Told Them that since it is apart I would like the whole trans changed over to the 2002 trans. hopefully this fixes everything, missed first ride of the year already. then once i get it back i have a Yoshimura comp. exaust kit to install, then get it rejetted... maybe have her back by Memorial Day.

Get out the vasolene!! They should do it right, regardless wether you have spoken about the cost.

You need to take this dealer by the hand, tell them what you want, when and how much. Your going to be in for a big shock when you go to pick up if you dont get an idea beforehand. The costs can easily mount up to half of what the quad is worth!

I bet you it wont be done for memorial day either, unless you start getting pissed. its not that far away!

Been pissed, called yamaha, did not get anywhere with them, when told by dealer that it probably would not be covered, I told him that I will request a dealer rep. then we can hash out cost. i just want it fixed, the quad was in last yr. at a different dealer for the slipping, so the problem has been there for over a yr. I will talk with a dealer rep when the quad is fixed. i tried the riding the service guy approach, does not seem to work well just slows everything down... will know more about the quad by the end of the week.

If the dogs are missing from 2nd, then it is a design/parts failure, pure and simple. They will say you treat it bad.
