Blaster, Banshee or 250R
#1
I am ready to mod my blaster, I plan to do the hydraulic brakes, Pipe and Silencer, Port, Polish, bore and Airbox Mods. These mods will cost in excess of 1000 I am sure. What I am trying to decide is this worth the hassle when I could sell the Blaster and get a Banshee or 250r for about 1500 after selling the Blaster. I have been riding for 15 years and have owned many bikes. Are there any negatives to a Banshee that I should know about, this is the way I am leaning because 250R's are overpriced. If I go with the Banshee it will probably older than a 94 model are there any negatives about a banshee that would make me want to stick with a modded Blaster. I ride trails only which have a few hills and creeks etc.

i think you should go with the blaster cause I think everyones always putin them down but with a little time and some mula you can have a bad *** 4-wheeler that is as good as a high performance
and how many tricked out blasters do you see

When i was going to mod out my blaster.
I had it planned to about 1,200
That was CT240 kit includes: re-sleeving cylinder, CT porting, re-chamber head, modified forged piston kit, Keihin PWK35 carburetor, FMF reeds, CT "National" pipe, gaskets, airbox adapter. All you need is a silencer.
Then new Aluminum Rims and Tires.
make up the rest of my cost
Then your blaster will be flying. I've heard the CT kits run about 65 or 70 with a 14 tooth front.
But, no one can tell you what to do. I think the blaster is better on trails that what a banshee is, when i rode one on really tight trails i had a horrible time(but i wasn't used to it too)
If you ride trails mainly, no dunes(a 240 could do it), Don't care about being able to blow by everyone on the straight i'd just stick with my blaster.

Dude, don't spend that much money on a Blaster. Sell it and buy a Banshee. I had a Blaster that I bought for my wife and it was OK but frankly, it had some major drawbacks and she is on a Warrior now. If you have been riding for 15 years then you will have no problem with the Banshee. Besides I bet that little Blaster would be a handfull with that much power, the quad is too small already.

Sounds interesting guys 94DG you said a CT kit will make my blaster that fast, that is what a stock Banshee runs and also according to this site right there with a Raptor. That may be the way to go. I do like my blaster's feel but just did not want to invest that much into it when I could go with a banshee. After reading another post here about Banshee problems, modding my blaster may be the way to go. How long does CT take to do this and will this require any additional cooling. Again I ride mostly trails and hills and just want some torque and top speed.

i have a 92 blaster and i wasant that happy with it because it was so small and not wide so you feel every little thing and get alot of head shake . i wanted to sell it and get a banshee but then i talked to some guy at the races and he had a banshee and a blaster and he said he liked ridin the blaster in races better because it is so light so it really takes off with all the mods and he told me the only drawback with the banshee is it's heavy. so he told me to get +2 a-arms and +4 axle and 2 inch swingarm extension to make it wider and a better ride and also better suspension and either go with the ct racing 240 kit or the trinity racing stage 4 kit and that will get you right up with 250r...........

If you wanted to go all out. And Do MX, Full Works suspension +2 +1 A-arms..can be gotten cheap around 375 for Krypton Super A-arms. Then a Longer Swing Arm and +4 Durablue Axle.
Those are some other things i had plans for. But now i have my pokey not running 300ex
To all the guys saying get a banshee or a 250R, a modded out blaster with a good rider can beat those in an MX track. Stock for stock no...not even a piped blaster(with reeds and other things)

People, Frankly the Blaster is for beginners and people of small stature. It is no better or worse as far as reliability than a Banshee or any other 2 stroke. Problem with it is: drum breaks, way too stiff front shocks, too short, too narrow, only 200 CC MILDLY PORTED motor (no replacement for displacement... Well you get the idea. For somebody that has been riding for 15 years it's time to move up to a Banshee or probably better yet a 250R for MX. But hey, that's just my opinion, I could be wrong.

If I had to choose between the three I would choose the 250R. Blaster is two small and beats the **** out of ya. And if you want to modify the Banshee you have two of everthing, pipes, pistons, carbs, and so on. I've heard that the first thing you should do to a Blaster is mod the suspension. Wider a-arms, swingarm and so on, so it makes it more friendly to the rider. But hey its your choice. You must choose but choose wisely for the right one will bring you hours of fun, and the wrong one will bring a big price tag.
