What is everyone's opinion on which is best I have heard from people that their 2WD bikes with good tyres go anywhere 4WD bikes go. What about all wheel drive bike's do they out perform the likes of my bike which drives three wheels. Any stories people have about theres or other peoples 2WD or 4WD bikes in mud and sand and climbing capabilities I would like to hear them thanks

I just had some 1st hand experience with this. I took my 00 Rancher 2x4 to a place in E. texas that is just for mudders. This guy loaned me a pair of tri-claw 27x12x12's. The quad looked like a funny car, all jacked up. I went everywhere the 4x4's went except for the really deep water where you need snorkles and some mud holes that even the monster quads have trouble with. Everyone was very impressed. Of course the Rancher has pretty good clearance and it's a 350cc so that had a lot to do with it. I don't really have to have a 4x4 to go mudding now. I still would like to trade my 97 Warrior for a 4x4 though.

I ride with a person with a 2wd 250 Moto4 and the places where I can go and he can,t is not worth mentioning the real advantage of 4wd for me is winter riding in snow and towing traction.Even when we finally hit a mud run on the trail the 2wd just runs along the side intead off straight through the deep middle to get to the other side.

yeah but aren't you talking about a sports quad? I'm not going to say that I can put tri-claws on my warrior and go through deep mud. Apples 2 Apples.

it is driver skill sometimes that gets your through, i ride with 2 two wheel drive 4 wheelers quite allot and , they go where I go, sometimes they really have to push there machines hard to go where I putt through but they most always make , have only had to tow one of them once. UI bought a 4x4 cause it sells better , some people just have to have it. plus i wanted a 500, and they don't make any that i am aware of in 2 wheel drive?

The only sport bike I ever seen was a Scambler on the trail once. All the bikes here are utilities because the trails are hilly narrow and boulder infested and you are lucky if you can do more than 35mph for a second or two before the next big rock on the trail puts that high speed run to a end quick.

Try telling my friend Brian on his 300ex,or my friend Dewayne on his 250 Zuk,or my friend Anthony on his 250 Tailblazier,or my brother Dominic on his Zuk LT 250 that they can go the same places as the 4x4s.I think that they'll tell you differant, especially in heavy mud and snow.

The guys that tell you that their 2wd quads will go the same places as the 4x4 quads will, have not been in REAL mud or snow.===Bill
