ok . its a nice sunny sunday you and your buds all cruised out to your best rideing area.. its about 72 degree's and the atv's are ready.. you all hop on and burn down the trail to your pit... WACK you get slammed by a cicada in the chest.. WACK WACK a few more.. before you know it you gotta pull a tearoff cause the bug guts suck... supposedly this is the way its going to be in the east and im not sure where else.. a large BUG bloom is supposed to happen this year and there armor plated... just figured id share [img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif[/img]

 

mmmm, can't wait. maybe i'll get a winshield.....not!

 

A bloom? That'll be great. Usually in the summer everytime we're outside the black flies or mosquitoes are trying to carry someone off. This "blume" outa be fantastic!! Another reason I love Maine so much!!

yeah mosquitos get pretty bad around Minnesota, but not cicada's, i don't even know what a cicada is. Bugs always make riding more interesting, might have to switch to a helmet with a shield eh?

 

Bugs are the worst. Your cruzin around and then BAM you got bug guice all over your face.

 

Yeah, THAT "bug juice" all over your face isn't any fun[img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif[/img] I had a June bug hit my knee on my bike at a good speed and I thought somebody shot me for an instant. That hurt!!!

 

You guys ain't seen nothing yet. We had cicadas, or locusts (whatever you want to call them) here in Ohio a couple a years ago. the most awful, annoying sound in the world. I was cleaning bug guts out of the grill on my truck for a long time. Really, its no wonder people thought of them as a plague.

 

for those that dont know... a cicada adult is about 2" long and armor plated... they are the "BUZZZZZZZZZZZZZZING" bugs you hear in the summer...

 

What is there cycle as in years because I remember it was around 1993 they were so bad that there would have been hundreds in a 200 foot square area.
