new raptor carb options
I agree with above posts that you are wasting money if you are buying NEW carbs just because you don't want to tune something up. Any aftermarket carb you buy, you will have to tune it initially to work with your setup.
If you were to get a cheap set of used stock Raptor carbs, all you would have to do is take your needles and jets out of your broken carb, pop them in the new used one, and you would be exactly where you were before it broke. That is as simple as you can get. Then you would have had $300-$400 left over to spend on other cool stuff.
But since you already ordered the Edelbrock, I think you will be very happy with it. I have been using one for over a year now and I will never switch back to the stock carbs. With the Edelbrock once you get it set good you will not have to change it. You can use it in the winter, summer, on a hill, at sea level and it will work just fine. It has instant throttle response, no hesitation or bogging like the stocker sometimes does. One thing, though. Unless you have a thumb-of-steel, you may want to invest in a ThumbSaver. The throttle action is VERY stiff. I will probably eventually go to a twist throttle because of it.
Good Luck with the new carb - and don't be afraid to call Edelbrock with questions. Jason and the other guys over there are great and very friendly. They have helped me out ALOT!

Sorry for my ignorance, but what is a power jet? It is not the same as an accelerator pump is it? If it is not the same, do you know if the Edelbrock carb uses a powerjet.
Thanks,
