Here's another thought If you yourself were to lose 5 10 15 or 20 pounds(if your not a beanpole) your machine won't have to carry that extra weight. It's called power to weight ratio. If your machine has twenty horse, and your machine, including YOU, weighs 500 pounds the ratio would be 20 h to 500 p Divivde 20 h by itself to get 1 h. Then divide 500 p by 20 h to get 25 p' s . The ratio would be 1 h - 25 p's (1-25)(power to weight) If you chop 20 pounds off your machine, or you lose 20 pounds yourself, the equation would be 20 horse - 480 pounds, (or 20 divided by itself equals 1, and 480 Divided by 20 = 24 OR 1h -24p's.(1-24) Which means, that 1 horse doesnt have to carry that extra pound which means more power to carry you and your machine "COMBINED". So now 20 h is carrying 480 pounds instead of 500 get it Keep lowering the weight of the quad or you or BOTH, and you have a FREE way of gaining POWER. Keep Lowering The Combined weight( lose fat not muscle = workout) Ratty

I've fluctuated from 180 lbs to 198 lbs since owning my yfz....and when I am 180 I am alot faster.......do I have more HP?? I don't know.....but I'm faster the less I way, so for all you wanting your ride to go faster...DIET....WORKOUT!.....not only will you go faster, but you'll be able to ride longer w/o soreness the next day

Oh man if that aint the truth. when the Suz. LT500R came out my cousin got one because it was the only one he fit on being 6'6" and over 200 lbs at that time I was 15 about 5'5" and 125 lbs well when I rode it, it appeared that no one was on the thing. Every gear the front would just lift off the ground and I could do burnouts in almost all of those gears w/o the clutch, just throttle. There were alot of good points made in this discussion I thank you all for the advide..

in a car, loss of weight can play a big role in HP, less weight will make it quicker but it is not very noticable cuz u cant really take that much weight froma quad, but when u ave something 300 lbs and reduce it to 2500lbs yes u are goin to find a difference
