You're jetting sounds good, I'm assuming you're below 3000' elevation. You should need to be 2 1/2 - 3 turns out on the air/fuel screws each side which is what you say your at. You say your needle is on the 3rd/middle groove which is good. I'd say try putting the needles one groove different at a time, either higher or lower until you've tried all positions. Keeping the needles on the same groove as the other each try. Also double check the diaphrams in the top of the carbs for tears and the carb boots themselves for tears etc. Do you run with the lid or no lid on the air box? Can you take it off and try without it? Hope you get it figured out.

i am below 3,000 ft.
does air/fuel screw from right carb change something different then the one on left??
i think my prob is there somewhere. fine tuning it.
thanks for suggs

If you're still having problems try rejetting it to around 158/155. My raptor was doing the same thing and it'd cut out on any steep hills. I opened the carbs and found it jetted to 190/195 from previous owner. Don't ask me, but it ran fine for a while. He did motorcross so I don't know if it was necessary for that big of a jet kit. My mods are your basic slip on fmf, filters and jetting. Anyways, I dropped to the 160/165 just like you and it ran a lot better, but it still cut out when I punched it. I dropped it off to a friend who rejetted it to 155/158 and I haven't had any problems since. Either way let me know what you do to fix it so we all know for the future.

Drop the needles down; Sounds to me you are slightly rich from mid to three quarter throttle. Drop the needles down one step at a time; if it fixes your problem; good but recheck your jetting to make sure you are still ok at WOT. Pilot jets control to 1/4th throttle, needles control 1/4th to 3/4 throttle and your mains control 3/4th trottle to full throttle. Thats basic jetting princibles to remember of what circiuts inside the carbs control and at what points they control it. Slim

came up with final settingings of : 160/165 jetting
clip on third groove
air/fuel 2 3/4 right carb 3 on left
k&n filter w/ outerwears no airbox lid
yoshimura trs titanium full system
end result is awesome power from crack of throttle to the top end
the yoshi was great choice
thanks to all for info

Not that it matters now but I have full Yoshi system 160-165 jetting, k&n, cut the fins in the snorkel and put a 2 x 3 hole in the lid. Runs fine, never mesed with the clip or pilot, put the air screw at 2 1/2" turns. I m at sea level. All i can say is this thing runs awsome from bottom to top.
But after about 6 months of having the system on, One of my header studs snapped off. So I took out the motor and drilled and retapped and put it all back together, now it makes a high pitch whistling sound when its running, might be a leak in carb boots, having air coming through a smal leak at high speeds could cause a whistle. Not sure yet, am about to go out and reseat all the boots tonight. Let me know if anybody else has an idea of what it could be.
