octanes in your area..

Elevation has a lot to do w/ the kind of octane you should run. Pinhead you are losing about 1.5 lbs in compression due to our elevation, 4500ft . My Cannondale has a 12.5-1 piston. The original FX400's had 12.5-1 pistons. The other newer Dales say 12.5-1, but they are really 11.8-1.. I run 91 0ctane w/ no problems..

No it won't make it run better. I got good advise from many sources when I used to run my GSXR1100 and ZX11 at the strip. I was told to run the lowest pump octane for more power. I was told higher octane does not create more hp, but actually produces less power. High octane is to prevent detonation not create more power when not required by high compression motors. Lower octane burns faster.

Any Exxon around here has 93 pump gas for around $2.05 a gallon.
Go-Mart/Shell sell's 91 and it's around $2.00 a gallon.
I run straight cam 2(110) and it's $4.29 a gallon. Alky at the same gas station is $1.85 a gallon. The same price as the cheapest gas you can find.
