Heat build up on Grizzlies??? Solution?

modquad- having it ceramically coated sounds great, but, to be honest I don't feel comfortable taking the ATV apart and removing the header pipes. So, I may have settle for the wrap, I suppose it does come with instructions on what and where to wrap? How do I access that area? Do I have to remove plastic body, or can I access from underneath the ATV?

I was the same way. Sure the Jet Hot is the best possible thing you could do, but its expensive and you have to remove the header and ship it to them. I wasn't down for all that. When I did mine, I ordered that kit from HL. Like $40 (expensive for no more than it is). It was a roll of this fiberglass wrap and some clamps (real crappy clamps too). I took off the black side panel and then unbolted the exhaust cover on the front. Then I started from the header and went around it all the way up to where it goes 2 pipes into 1. Then I cut it off. Used a couple clamps on that part. Then went to the other header pipe and went over it until I ran out of wrap. It made it just to where the tailpipe connects into the header pipe. Its kind of a bitch to get the cover back on, but it will work. I may have ran out of clamps and used a plain hose clamp on one spot, but don't remember. Its a pain in the *** to do really, and you get that fiberglass crap all over you, but it works for fixing the heat problem. Greatly reduces the heat from the exhaust to the gas tank and carb.

Good luck. I also have a 2003 grizzly, and I'm having the same problems. Already got the 04 heat kit put on, and the problem is still there. It's the steam that rises, when you go through water combined with the hot engine temp. Here are a list of suggestions:
1. Clean the gas cap pipe and the gas cap (verify the ball bearing in the gas cap).
2. put die-electrique grease on the spark-plug, and around the rim of the spark-plug cap and engine block (to make a good seal).
3. put muffler packing around the air-intake (2 inches deep)
4. have the carb rejetted
5. build a home made heat shield to limit the hot steam from getting into the air intake
So far I did numbers 1, 2, and 4.
I rode today, and all went well. Although I didn't ride in too much water. No stalls!!!!!
I'll look for more water the next ride to really see if the problems still reoccures.
