I really dont think reporting problems with the Raptor is bagging on the quad. There are enough posts of people with tranny and throw out bearing problems to indicate that those two systems are the weak link in the quad. That information steered me towards the L&A One Way when mine went out and I was grateful for the discussion about this problem and good aftermarket replacement parts. By the way, my 02 tranny went out, 2nd gear split in two. Good luck if you get the Raptor, its a blast to ride and hope you dont run into these two potential problems.

Turtler,

I think you misunderstood the point I was trying to make. I wasn't referring to those reporting problems as being the "baggers". I was instead referring to those who post to threads like this telling the potential buyer of a raptor things such as "the only kinds of raptors are those that have broken and those that will". Such posts only give negative opinions with no basis of fact. By all means, problems with bikes should be discussed here; certainly such discussions are one of the main advantages of such a forum. I was simply thanking those who feel positively of their raptors for sharing their good experiences as a counter to those who feel it necessary to flood these threads with nothing but negative opinions.

I replaced my '01 tranny with an '02 design when I upgraded to a 686 & the old gears/dogs looked liked new.
I change the oil frequently & I weigh 175lbs, maybe its more of a weight issue than anything else?

my 01 raptor is fine....not all raptors are beat and broken...just rumors are like bacteria...they multiply faster the more u feed them...its not all facts and anyhow listen to the people who have good expiriences as well as bad and learn from them.. choose wisely
