Default wolverine problems????

ok heres the deal i was looking to get a 4x4 rancher 350 and i hear from alot of people that it is underpowered at only 329ccs so i am looking at a wolverine. is there any problems with the wolverine??? all years? is it underpowered? is it a small bike?? i am about 195 and 5'7 i know you can buy alot of mods for the wolverine to make it more powerful. is it reliable? is the parts harder to get since they stopped making the warrior and it is made with the warrior top end or something like that? thanks for your help.

Default wolverine problems????

I test drove a Rancher when I was helping a buddy look for a quad and it was way too underpowered for me. Granted, it was an auto and not a 5-speed, but I was not impressed. I love the wolverine and it is definitely more powerful. I am 6'4" 230lbs and it pulls me around easily. I have not had any problems yet, but I've only had it for a few months. You are right too, there are alot of mods you can buy. If you do anything though, get the Warn 424 first to make it 2x4 or 4x4, it's like a whole new bike. For the type of riding that I do, the wolverine is perfect and I am completely satisfied. What kind of riding do you plan on doing?

I owned a Wolverine for 7 years and the only problem I had with it was that over time, the electric start wire had rubbed on the frame until it started shorting out. I absolutely beat furiously on that machine. Jumped it, rolled it (many times) and did a lot of powersliding. It was unstoppable and very reliable. The thing still had the original spark plug in it when I sold it to a friend! Remember to change all of the fluids, including the differentials, and you will have years of fun.

Perfect! Just get one that has been serviced regularly. The motor has been known as "bulletproof", and I believe it. They did not change much over the years, only added a recoil and a rear rack I think in '96. Getting the Warn 424 is a great idea, I wish I would have had that mod on mine.

a1, check ebay, there are a few wolverines on there right now. A couple of them are pretty decent. You will not be dissapointed with the wolvy, sounds like you do the same kind of riding as me. Right now the only performance enhancing mod I have is the Warn 424 and my quad is quicker than any of my buddies 400's and some 500's. I plan on getting a hmf pipe and airbox vents along with the right jetting in the near future, hoping it'll put me with or faster than the Vinsons and H.O.'s.
