I have found this to be the most useful section in the forum so i wil post my question here. I have totally ran out of ideas on what could be wrong with my quad. it started doing this after i put on a new uni filter but i dont think that it could cause this to happen. the quad as been sitting for a week since the last time i tried to fix it. and it started up after removing the carb boot and spraying in some wd 40. to get it started. afetr that i adjusted it until it would idle like i have done so many times trying to fix it and then i let it idle and warm up and then i got on and took it for a fast ride to get everything moving and all that. then i pulled into the shop and let it idle while i put some air in the tires then i got back on and put it in reverse to go back pout and continue riding and i gave it a little throttle and it just died and i cant get it started. and this same thing happens everytime i think i have fixed it. what could it be i am open to all sugestions
thanks in advance

I had a very similar problem as yours. My quad would start fine and rev up in neutral but when i put it into gear and pressed the gas it would spudder and stall. Also, the choke always had to be on. In my case, it turned out to be bad gas but I had alot of good advise that pertained to the carb and fuel system.

i just figured out the problem i had already noticed this but i finally came 100 percent sure of what happened. my plug keeps on fouling, thats why it would idle and then die and then not start up again when it was idleing the plug fouls and then it dies an becuase the plug is fouled it wil not spark thus it will not start. i now know that i have to rejet but i have never done anything with jetting so i am clueless. do i need to go up a size or down. and where do i find what the current jetting is.
thanks in advance

how old is the plug, they tend to just give out sometimes it's no biggie. Jut put a new plug in it and run it for a bit, then check the condition of it. if it keeps fouling plugs, you'll need to lean out the jetting a bit. just let me know how it works with a new plug, if you have any problems I'll guide you through troubleshooting.
