Tranny/clutch problem??
#1
Hey guys,
Long story short, I went to the dealership to ask how to care for my quad a bit, he said buy wd40 and spray all the moving parts when your done riding. To the present, a couple days ago I did just that, now my quad runs like sh*t. When I started it and put it in reverse with the clutch in it just went. Then whenever I shift its real rocky like a clunk when I downshift and such. It feels as if the clutch is not being used at all just the lever. Is there a way to fix this, or did I hose something?

Well they are brand new with about 8 hours on them now, I havent adjusted the clutch or anything. I was gonna say that the bike moves while it is in neutral. This doesnt seem right to me.

what did u spray with that WD, u made it kinda sound like the clutch not working and the WD spraying are related. lol

I think that is the problem, down where the cable plugs into the clutch housing there is a linkage type deal there, and I sprayed it becuase the dealer guys said spray anything that pivots or moves.

i really doubt that spraying the clutch linkage could have caused that problem because it should be sealed, and even if a little WD did get into the clutch basket i dont think it would cause any damage with all the oil in there to disperse it.
Before you bring your quad to the dealers to be fixed, flip it on its side so the clutch cover side is up and take off the case over the clutch. look at the little rod that will be sticking out from the middle of the basket, see if the groves on it are lined up and catching on the groves of the rod that is coming straight down from the linkage on the inside of the clutch cover. it could just be not lined up.
