I have a kick only YFZ450 and I dont recommend it for most folks ... only for people who KNOW how to kick a thumper. I can start my bike fine but nobody I ride with can start it. For most people the e-start is the better choice on the YFZ. The TRX450 kickstarts much easier

The weight loss is 10lbs ... The battery, gears, starter, wires etc weigh 12lbs and the kicker arm and guts weigh 2lbs. It is my understanding that you cannot kickstart a YFZ if it doesnt have the cam mod done - It has to do with the compression release. I dont know since I did the cam mod before I installed the kickstarter.

If you know what you are doing the bike will start on the 1st or 2nd kick.

 

one reason why i dont wanna go full kick start is because of all the cold weather riding i do... and i dont wanna kick for like 30 mins like my buddy does on his shee...

 

cold starts are actually really easy on the YFZ ...

 

really... my buddy had a lil trouble with his last winter...
btw do you need the hot start with the kick??
