How Big Of A Jump Have You Hit?
86 feet (measured with a 100 foot tape from where I left the sand to where I landed) at Little Sahara State Park in OK. I was going for 100 feet but didn't quite get there. The landings were getting pretty hard and the speed was getting ridiculous for this jump on a gently domed sand dune. My Banshee had a lot of aftermarket goodies to keep from bending stuff but I started bottoming out the suspension (also aftermarket) and survival instincts starting kicking in.

ive gotten like 5 feet and 20 feet long, lol. the blaster suspension is horrible!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! today i tried doubling a weak jump, and i cased it on the triple, i overshot the double. it hurt really bad! i thought i broke my wrist at first it was such a hard landing. ill have to get some banshee shocks and 400ex rear or something, cuz im goin to glamis in november. do you think that since it is going to be in the sand, the blaster could take like 6 and a half feet of air? or would i definetly need better shocks?

My biggest jump was an accident. We were riding at little sahara. My buddy and I were cruising along and didn't see the drop coming... it blended in with the next dune. Anyway, we sailed off that thing and dropped about forty feet, landing just shy of the bottom. About three hours later, a guy on a banshee did the same thing but couldn't ride it out. He got pile drove into the sand and died in route to the hospital from severe head and neck trauma. We were the first on the scene when he wrecked.

I always hate to hear about accidents at Little Sahara. Everytime we go, I constantly remind people of the dangers. We rarely ride between noon and 3:00 pm because the direct overhead lighting has a tendency to blend the dune outlines together making the drops very difficult to see.
While not my biggest jump, the one that scared me most happened while I was racing the OCCRA circuit. At the start of one race at 59th and Douglas in OKC, it was raining and my Banshee's throttle hung wide open coming off the start line. I figured I'd just feather the clutch until it got unstuck. I was in about 4th position past the first turn as we approached the first table top. I misjudged it and hit it WAY too fast. I past the front 3 guys in the air and looked DOWN to them as I went over the top. I don't know how high I was but it was way too high and long for that particular jump. All I could think was how bad this was going to hurt and the fact that everyone would run into me when I crashed. I landed front end low well past the down side of the jump and about 6 people passed me as I struggled to keep the back end behind me. I somehow managed to save it although I was pretty spooked by the ordeal and didn't fare too well the rest of that race.

My longest jump was about 40 - 45 feet (paced off from the last track on the jump to the first track in the sand .. 15 paces at roughly 3' per pace. Wasn't very high though .. probably at the peak of the jump maybe 2.5 - 3 feet of air.
The most air I've gotten is probably 6 feet off a drop-jump ... other than that maybe 4 or 5 feet on a very short hop.
