I have a 2003 LE raptor with the GYR-T pipe and a K&N. Im 6'4 and 275 so im not the best racer but my buddy is about 190 and he raced my quad against a smaller guy with a stock 450 and the rapto beat it clear. The 450 owner also had about 5 more years riding as well.

My raptor amazes me. The only thing at the farm that it cant blow the doors off is my buddies Kawasaki 500 2 stroke dirtbike. The raptor will lead until about 3rd then the Kawi gets ahead 1 or 2 quad lengths.

The only other guy I have raced was my friends crazy redneck buddy that has an old 250 3 wheeler thats in great shape.

We dragged on a paved road and we sat side by side ( I mean side by side) The entire time until I backed off at 5th tapped. Im sure if I threw a couple 75lb bags of sand on his back I would have won. Ill take a tie any day against a crazy redneck that can wheelie for 3 miles while smoking.

a little carried away with the redneck story.....j/k, i own a raptor and there is no way it will keep up with a 500 kawi dirtbike.

Yeah second gear takeoffs are the best on asphalt because u wont spin as much and wont wheelie with the xtra hook up
