A couple of my young cousins came over today and wanted to ride my new (well it was new) 2000 kodiak. I always said it could go through anything but the boys try pushing down a sweet gum tree and it failed. My problem is the front bumber is completly crushed what will it cost to replace it. Don't tell me make the boys pay they are in the fourth grade and they dont have insurance, I already asked them.

Oh man, If I were you, I would've gotten the biggest limb off that sweetgum tree and beaten them with it.. lol. I don't really know bout Kodiak's.. but it seems like it shouldn't cost over $300.. Wow that's alotta money..Later,

Be thankful you've only a bumper to buy, your cousins were not injured.

While my comments may sound self-righteous, before you dismiss them as the ravings of a fanatic, please consider: a number of accounts of very young children injured or killed on ATVs have appeared in the Forum; I'm glad your story is not one of them.

I hope you'll make sure these 10-year-olds have the training, protection (e.g., helmets), and supervision they need before you allow them to ride again, as well as their parents' permission.

While most 10-year-olds will disagree, they may not have the maturity, judgment, and experience to handle safely a powerful machine like a Kodiak without supervision.

Instead of punishing these boys for the accident, consider teaching them safe ATV riding techniques.

I'm on my 3rd bumper on my 2000 Kodiak. $190 a pop is what they go for. The kids knew better. Spare the rod and spoil the child. A good switching is in order.
