Depends what kinda dirtbike...... Race bike ie. cr250/125 dont hold out water for chit. The airbox is wide open and even splashing can get them wet.
If its an enduro style prolly a little more resistant.
maybe 2 feet max........ no...... accually less

Most dirt bike intakes are located under the seat....that will give you an idea of how deep you can go before you drown the engine.
with that said...My 4 stroke dirt bike has vent tubes that run down near the back of the engine....if you are lugging it through a deep crossing, you risk the chance of stalling out...I ran these tubes up near the seat .

I raced a desert race on a CR 500 where we had to cross the Sevier River 33 times in the 100 mile long race. Some of the water crossings were deep enough that the water came to within six inches of the bottom of the seat, and I made it through the whole race with only one minor water ingestion that made the engine sputter for a second, but did not make it die out completely. I ran the stock airbox, which had no lid, and a oiled foam air filter. There were lots and lots of drowed dirt bikes stalled at each water crossing, because riders had tried to cross too fast, and had splashed water up into their airbox, or because they were riding dirt bikes with lower air intakes. Only 20% of the starters were able to finish that race, because the ruts that were dug by each bike made the water crossings deeper and deeper. The experts made it through fine, the amatures struggled, and the novices were S.O.L.
