Default How the *#%$ Does the Axel Come out???

Ok, so my rear carrier bearings are gone. I found a dealer locally who ordered in a set of Motion Pro wrenches to deal with the 50mm nuts on the axel.

So, I got the axel nuts off. I got the spindles off, and the chain sprocket and rear caliper. The axel has to slide out to the right as far as I can see, but yet, it will not go ???

Has anyone else here done this with their Warrior and what tricks did you need to employ to get the axel out. I already have to buy a new spindle nut for the left side and don't want to do any more damage.

Please help!!!!

did u take off the locknuts on the axel? if u did take a small but thick piece of wood like a cut off piece of a 2x4. hold it up to the end of the axel on one side and hit it with a sledge hammer lightly at first then hit harder until it comes loose.

There is a sleeve on the axle between the two bearings. If water gets in there it corrodes and seizes onto the axle. Soak it down with penetrating oil and then use a deadblow hammer and knock the hell out of it to get it out. Put the hub nut on backwards so you don't ruin the threads. Brace the swingarm so it doesn't move with each hammer blow. If that doesn't work, then take the bearing housing off and put it in a vise, then soak it with penetrating oil and get a good brass hammer and go to town on it and it will come out. If you've got a air hammer with a brass chuck that will work too. Good luck.

thanks guys ..

I've been whacking at the end of the axel with a 2lb hammer, which is the biggest I've got, and a short block of 2x4 .. I'll try the nut on backwards .. right now i've got the spindle on backwards with the washer on the inside, but i'm loosing alot of the impact in the spindle shifting ..

I'm gonna give it a good soak in wd 40 for a while and try again tonight I'd say .. I'm busy putting the siding on my garage right now...

Thanks a million!!
