Are J-Arms the same thing as A-arms?
#3
No
The J-arms have a single pivot point on the frame and are shaped like a J they curve around the front of the shock. A-arms have two pivot points on the frame forming a A shape going around the shock.... can't think of a better way to describe it other than that..... Hope that helps
J arms were on shee's 87- 91??? can't remeber what year they went to A arms , then A arms have been used since

Your really better off not using the J-arm. A-arms are much stronger and reliable. I got two banshee guys in my group( a '87 and a '89) that know more about it and they converted to A-arm just to prevent headaches. Besides Yamaha wouldnt have changed to A-arms if they were not a better design.
