Default race training

dear fellow yamaha quad enthusiasts,

what sort of training do you do for a quad race. Do you go to the gym, do you pretend on a bicycle etc. etc. I live in Australia and am pondering whether to do the finke desert race (the largest offroad event in the southern hemisphere) on a yamaha raptor 660. the finke is on about the 13th of June every year so i have time do some training. My good friend has a farm where i ride my current quad and my other friend owns an engineering workshop. I believe i have the right ingredients to get good skill and a fast quad. What do you think????
any replies would be helpfull.

cheers

Practice Practice Practice. You should know your quad at the back of your head. Learn when something goes wrond and learn how to fix the problem when your riding. Experement with longer axles and a-arms, swingarms, tires, go to place of race and practice raceing it!!!!!

Lots and lots of practice and cardio. A race like that takes a lot of endurance. If your endurance is really good, it will make a huge difference.

My training consists of running, riding in the hottest part of the day for as long as I can stand it and racing itself. Also hydrating your body can play a big role in your stamina......

The next best thing to do besides riding is cardio. Running or bicycling are both very effective in increasing your stamina and endurance. Keeping yourself hydrated means drinking plenty of water before, in between and after motos. This doesnt mean taking a 12 pack of soda to the track, drink water or gatorade, soda will dehydrate you.

throw yourself down the stairs a few times. then run into a wall. Then let your hit you with a car at 35mph.
